1. Tier 1 - Atom / Peewee / Bantam
The 2016 Prospect Series Tier 1 program will feature
teams at the Atom, Peewee and Bantam divisions. The
Tier 1 program has been established to provide the
opportunity for players to continue their development
in a high level program with the goal of reaching the
AAA level of play.
OBJECTIVES
The basic objective of the Prospect Series is to provide the
opportunity for players, male and female, to improve their
hockey skills in a fun and positive environment. Our objective
will be accomplished by bringing together a group of
committed players under the direction of qualified coaches.
The coaches will be provided support and resources from the
Atlantic Hockey Group, a leading force in the development
of young hockey players. As well, our Prospect Series will
feature a coaching mentorship program with advanced level
coaches responsible for assuring that our players receive quality
on-ice practice sessions as well as proper bench management
during the games. The program has been designed to find
the proper balance of on-ice training as well as competitive
games. The ultimate goal is for our players to have fun while
learning more about this great game.
PROSPECT SERIES FORMAT
GAMES
The 2016 program will consist of a 12 games schedule with
each team hosting a minimum of 4 games to be played at
Cody Banks as well as the Pownal Sports Centre. We expect
that our Wolverines teams will play 6 games in PEI. Remaining
games will be played in the Moncton area taking place
on weekends where teams will play two games in one day (
3 travel days to play remaining 6 games). All divisions will
feature games of two 12 and one 15 minutes stop time periods.
The schedule has been geared to reduce travel cost by avoiding
any overnight stays.
PRACTICES
The Prospect Series will feature a minimum of 12 hours of
individual team full ice practices which will take place at Cody
Banks arena and Pownal Sports Centre. The on-ice training
is designed with the objective of improving the players fundamental
skills as well as developing team concepts. Individual
teams will also have the option of increasing the number of
on-ice training sessions by acquiring additional ice times from
the Atlantic Hockey Group.
NOTE: Goaltenders will take part in our exclusive goaltending
clinics featuring highly qualified instructors from the Atlantic
Goaltending Academy.
ATLANTIC CUP
The Atlantic Cup will feature Prospect Series teams
from the provinces of NS, NB and PEI. The tournament
will take place in Halifax in early June.
Note: It is an optional event, therefore not included in the
registration fee. A modest fee of $79 per player to play 5 games
TEAM SELECTION
Players competing at the AA level as well as a limited number
of AAA level players will be eligible to participate in our
2016 tier 1 Prospect Series. Team rosters will comprise of 2
goaltenders, 6 defencemen and 9 forwards. The teams will
be selected by invitation from the individual coaching staffs.
