The Atlantic Hockey Group (AHG) is pleased to announce that it will be partnering up with Joe Robbins and former PEI Hockey Group Program. AHG will provide PEI Hockey Group with strong administrative support allowing the program to continue to grow offering all its participants the quality program they have come to expect.  Under the new arrangement Joseph Robbins will be in a position to focus all of his attention and energy on the hockey operations working with PEI Prospects coaches and players.

Founded in 1989, The Atlantic Hockey Group’s (AHG) program has become one of the most successful in Canada.  Through programs such as the Charlie Bourgeois Hockey School, the Atlantic Goaltending Academy and the spring Hockey Series the Atlantic Hockey Group works with over 5000 hockey players each year.  The network of over 400 coaches associated with the Atlantic Hockey Group also benefit from the mentorship program as well as the extensive coaching resources made available to them.

Director Charlie Bourgeois brings over 12 years of professional hockey experience to the Atlantic Hockey Group.  He began his pro-career with the Calgary Flames of the NHL.  In his seven year NHL career, he also played for the St. Louis Blues and Hartford Whalers.  His coaching career began in Europe, followed by a two-year stint in the AHL with the Winnipeg Jets top farm team.  As a head coach Charlie guided the université de Moncton Aigles Bleus to the 2004-05 Atlantic University Championship.

Former NHLer and Director of the Atlantic Hockey Group, Charlie Bourgeois, looks forward to continuing to grow PEI Prospects Hockey “ Having an experienced hockey person like Joseph Robbins involved in our programs will be a tremendous asset to our group.  Joseph is a quality person who brings a great deal of knowledge and passion for the game of hockey. It is well known in the PEI hockey community that Joe brings a great deal of commitment and passion to the development of young PEI hockey players of all levels..” “I look forward to working with Joe for many years to come.”

As for Robbins “I am so excited about the future of PEI  Hockey Group. Together with the Atlantic Hockey Group, we will be in a position to offer the strongest Maritime Spring Elite Series available to players and with the support of AHG, we will continue to be committed to the development of Island players first!” said Robbins.  “With AHG resources, we will be able to offer even more quality programs for the Elite to the recreational player!” added Robbins.

For 2016 AHG and Prospects Hockey will be focusing on spring hockey programs such as the Atlantic Elite Series featuring the top hockey players and teams from across the Maritimes as well as introducing its very popular AAA Series and Prospect Series which provides young hockey players not quite ready to play at the Elite level a great opportunity to continue their hockey development in a very competitive environment featuring teams from NB, NS  Newfoundland and Québec.  It is expected that approximately 50 teams from across Atlantic Canada will travel to the Charlottetown area as PEI Hockey Group host league games as well as tournaments which will create a very positive spin off for the local economy.  Having our PEI teams play more games at home will also reduce the additional cost of travel which can make it challenging for families wanting to take part in a spring hockey program.

The summer and Fall programs will continue to offer a wide variety of programs such as the Summer Hockey Academy featuring the Defense Academy and the Sharp Shooter program.  The PEI Prospects will again host the Summer Classic Showcase which will bring in AAA players and teams from across Atlantic Canada.  New for 2016 will be the arrival of the Atlantic Goaltending Academy(AGA) which will provide goaltenders of all ages and levels an opportunity to take part in a week long camp featuring some of the most qualified and experienced instructors in Atlantic Canada. Recognized as the top goaltending program in Atlantic Canada AGA works with over 600 goaltenders each year. The Winter program which will take place at the Eastlink Centre will be available to players of different age groups..
